If you enjoy rpg type games, it might be worth a look while it's on sale. If you really enjoyed 3, it might've been for the reasons some hated 2. Trading is completely open to all, gear is not locked to your account. There's only 3 difficulties and you can't move on to the next until fully beating the game on your current. It’s an older game but it’s a highly influential game for any modern ARPG and still plays very well to this day and it’s getting a huge patch soon with more updates.Ī lot will mention 2 is better than 3, but few will mention it's a lot different too.Ģ is slower paced, less hand holding, even respeccing is expensive so you need to really read up and choose your build carefully. I could go on and on about why I’ve enjoyed playing D2 over the last many years but I’d just recommend getting it and seeing for yourself. Low level duels are good fun as well as normal high level dueling. PvP is also really fun when you eventually get geared enough. There are a lot of fun builds to try in PvM, some way better than others, but don’t be afraid to go outside of the box and play builds nobody ever plays and try to make them work. Don’t skip anything and explore everything your first dozen playthroughs. The atmosphere is great and the quests and NPC dialogues are good. You will find gg items but you are rewarded for being patient.
Uniques and rares would likely be your first good items but you can find extremely useful items of any type and quality.
The itemisation in D2 is deep and when you craft, gamble, find or trade an amazing item it feels very rewarding. For example, when you’re walking your defence and block are fully applied but when you’re running defence is 0 and block chance is reduced by about 1/3 that’s just one example out of quite a few but once you learn them you feel like you’ve unlocked some fun knowledge.
There are a lot of gameplay mechanics that aren’t obvious as well and the game never explicitly tells you. D2 is an amazing game but it’s harder, and you won’t be given as much.
